Find out what's happening in Mrs. Finn's Kindergarten classroom...

This week we read Leprechaun stories.  We compared and contrasted Jamie O'Rourke and the Big Potato and The Luckiest Leprechaun.  Our new popcorn words were: do, all, there.  The word family we worked on was -in.  The students have been working so hard reading in guided reading groups with me during Daily Five time.  You can see how proud they are when they recognize popcorn words and figure out unfamiliar words.  They are also becoming such good writers!  They are working on their second "story" and will be bringing their first one home soon.  They love to share them with the class. Our math lessons and centers focused on measurement, sorting and addition.  To follow through at home, you can start working on memorizing math facts to build fluency.  In kindergarten we will work on problems up to the sum of 10, but they will have to show fluency with facts to the sum of 5.
