Last week we read the story, Elmer.  We also read a National Geographic for Kids about elephants and compared and contrasted the fiction and nonfiction texts.  Elmer was a unique elephant so the students also thought about how they are one of a kind and wrote about that and made an Elmer craft. The popcorn words we learned were: red, yellow, blue, pink.  In math we continued to work on addition and subtraction problem solving and fluency.  We had a great week!

We had a wonderful week in Kindergarten! The story that we focused on in reading was, The Rainbow Fish. We talked about being greedy and sharing and how it makes you feel when you share with others.  We have been focusing on identifying the characters and setting in stories. The vocabulary words that were introduced were: shocked, wise, admire, glide and shimmer. Our new popcorn words were: pretty, funny, under, find. The students have been working on "how to" writing during writing time. In math we have been working on addition and subtraction.

Next week the students will take MAPS tests.  Please make sure your child eats a good breakfast, gets a good night's sleep and encourage him/her to just do their best.

Friday, May 13th is Early Dismissal/School Improvement Day in District 66. Students are dismissed beginning at 11:35 a.m.  Your child should bring a snack, but no lunch on this day.
