Last week we read the story, Apples, Apples, Apples by Nancy Elizabeth Wallace. The vocabulary words from this story were orchard, limb, and chart. In Jolly Phonics we learned the sounds of o & u.  The popcorn words were on & we.  In handwriting we practiced making the letter Aa and continued to print numbers 1-10. In math, the students practiced counting, reading and writing numbers to 10 during math centers.

Reminders: Remember to check and empty green folders every night.  
Book-It reading calendars have been sent home.  Each day that you read with your child, he/she should color the pumpkin.  Calendars will be due at the end of the month.  This program will run through March. 


Our school will have a Halloween parade and party!  The parade will be at 1:45 p.m. outside of school.  The classroom party will immediately follow.  Students may wear costumes to school that day.  Please remember that weapons of any kind are not allowed.

Last week we read the story, When Autumn Comes. The vocabulary words from this story included: Autumn, Preparation, Harvested & Ripened.  In Jolly Phonics we studied the sounds d & g.  Our new popcorn words were: run & at.  We are now working on Poetry as well.  Our first poem was Apples, Apples.  We learned the words & song, counted how many words were in each line and learned how to tell where a word starts and ends.  The students also illustrated the poem.  In math we continued printing numbers with The Numeral Song, and are now writing numbers up to 10.  The students are also working in centers to order numbers 1-10, compare numbers 1-10, count objects to 10, and write numbers 1-10.  Progress reports were sent home last Friday.  Please sign and return the report as soon as possible.  Hope you had a great 3 day weekend!                                                          Peek At Next Week

Healthy snacks include fruit, vegetables, cheese, crackers, goldfish, pretzels, popcorn, yogurt.  Anything containing nuts, chocolate or potato chips are not allowed.  Please keep the snack separate from your child's lunch.

Last week we read the story, Miss Bindergarten Takes a Field Trip With Kindergarten. The vocabulary words from the story were: bakery, post office, steers, & chaperone.  The letter sounds we learned in Jolly Phonics were r & m.  Our new popcorn words were like & up.  We practiced printing the letters Ll, Ii & Tt in handwriting.  In math we have been learning about the numbers 0-5.  Students have been learning to print the numbers correctly, put them in order, count objects, and compare the numbers. (more than, fewer than, same)
